Updates On Endovascular Aneurysm Treatments

By Emil Zhalmukhamedov, Jessica Campos M.D

Exciting news in Endovascular Neurosurgery! This past week marked the 100th Surpass Flow Diversion and it proved its efficacy in the treatment of cerebral aneurysms. This technique is indicated to be performed on patients 18 years and older with large or giant saccular intracranial aneurysms with wide-neck or fusiform intracranial aneurysms in the internal carotid artery with a diameter between 2.5 mm and 5.3 mm (fda.gov source).

The Scientissimum’s partner Treat The Stroke Foundation under the supervision of Dr. Coon is actively exploring the efficacy of WEB (Woven EndoBridge) technology for the treatment of intracranial wide neck bifurcation aneurysms. The WEB is a self-expanding braided mesh of nitinol wires that are deployed directly into the aneurysm (BMJ Jorunal).
